Building Regulations Part MPart M sets down minimum standards for disabled access for such as steps and ramps, door widths, accessible toilets etc. and consider the problems of disabled people and their enjoyment of services.
The requirements of Part M now reflect to a much greater extent the notion that people's abilities are not universal and can change over time and with family and personal circumstances.
Part M now clearly signals a move away from the narrow aim of making buildings accessible to, and usable by disabled people towards an aim to make buildings accessible and usable by, everyone including people with disabilities. |
